Kaththi

"Kaththi" continues to dominate the Chennai box office by registering fantastic collections in the city. The film noticed 85 percent theatre occupancy during the weekend and remained on top at the box office. Its 12-day collections stand at ₹5.32 crore, according to Behindwoods. The Vijay starrer is expected to continue its good run until the release of big films.

"Kaththi" has emerged as a hugely successful film for both Vijay and the film's director A.R. Murugadoss. The film has hit the fastest 100 at the worldwide box office. Director Murugadoss has confirmed that "Kaththi" has cross the ₹100-crore mark in 12 days globally.

Poojai

Vishal's "Poojai" has managed to hold on to screens despite facing huge competition from "Kaththi." The action drama took good openings in its first weekend and continued to sustain its business at the box office. The film is estimated to have grossed ₹1.89 crore in 12 days at the Chennai box office.

Directed by Hari, "Poojai" is a masala entertainer with loads of action, sentiments, punch dialogues, romance and songs. The film received decent reviews from the critics as well as from the audience.

Vishal has been doing well in the industry with his last two films having turned out to be successful projects. It needs to be seen if the actor will end the year by scoring a hit with "Poojai." The box office status of the film is expected to be known in a few days.

Nerungi Va Muthamidathe

Lakshmy Ramakrishnan's "Nerungi Va Muthamidathe" has taken a below average opening with the film grossing over ₹3 lakh at the Chennai box office. It witnessed average theatre occupancy of 35 percent during the weekend.

Limited screens, low key promotions and lesser known actors might have resulted in the film getting poor openings. Moreover, Diwali releases "Kaththi" and "Poojai" are holding on to major screens which might have also affected the film's business.

However, the thriller drama has received good reviews from the critics. It needs to be seen if the positive word of mouth helps the film fetch decent collections in the coming days.
