A Bangalore family court has annulled Kannada actress Shruti's second marriage to journalist-turned-director Chandrachud.

Shruti and Chandrachud married in June at Kollur Mookambika temple in Karnataka. Just two days after the marriage, their marital life faced trouble from Chandrachud's first wife Manjula, who claimed that she and her husband were not divorced at the time of his second wedding.

Shruthi and Chandrachud decided to tie the knot after getting divorced from their partners. Shruthi got a divorce from her husband, director Mahendra, but Chandrachud remained married to his first wife. This led to more confusions in their marriage.

Reportedly, Manjula appeared on a Kannada TV channel and claimed that she does not want to part ways with her husband. She also urged Chandrachud to cut his relationship with Shruti and return to his family.

Manjula also approached the court seeking justice, following which Chandrachud appealed to the court seeking annulment of his marriage with Shruthi. He and shruthi filed a written consent approving Manjula's plea seeking the court to declare their marriage as invalid.

"Manjula must get justice. I trusted chandrachud too much. I didn't know that Chandachud had not got a divorce from his first wife. I don't want any girl to face this sort of a situation," Shruthi was once quoted as saying by The Times of India.

The family court on Friday (22 September) ruled that Shruthi-Chandrachud's marriage is invalid.

Shruthi was one of the most sought-after actresses of Kannada film industry. She has worked in other south Indian film industries as well. In Tamil, she is best known for her title character "Kalki", directed by K.Balachander.

The talented actress, whose career spans for more than two decades, is still busy with multiple film and TV assignments. She was last seen on the small screen in a Tamil serial titled "Karthigai Pengal."
