Marathi movie "Kanha" has witnessed growth in its box office collection over the weekend. After an average start at the box office, the film has made decent earning over its first weekend.

Released on Aug. 26, "Kanha" had collected Rs. 82 lakh on its opening day, following which the film saw rise in its business. With the completion of its 1st weekend, "Kanha" has taken its three-day collection to Rs. 3.24 crore nett at Indian box office.

"Marathi film #Kanha witnessed growth with each passing day. Fri 82 lacs, Sat 1.03 cr, Sun 1.39 cr. Total: 3.24 cr," Taran Adarsh tweeted revealing the day wise break up.

Directed by Avadhoot Gupte, "Kanha" features Vaibbhav Tatwawdi, Gashmeer Mahajani and Gauri Nalawade. The film had received positive response from the audience and is likely to have a steady run at the box office in coming days.

Based on Dahi Handi and the politics surrounding the festival, "Kanha" has been receiving good response from audience in Maharashtra. Earlier, another Marathi film "Sairat" had broken several box office records.

With a collection of over Rs. 85 crore, "Sairat" had become the highest grossing Marathi film of all time. Although the craze around "Kanha" is far less than what it was for "Sairat," the former has been enjoying positive word of mouth and is likely to go a long way at the box office.
