Vijay's "Theri" holds the record for garnering the highest number of "likes" for a Tamil film teaser. The clip, released on the midnight of Feb. 5, 2016, has got over 3 lakh "likes" and more than 55,000 "dislikes" so far. The official video has also amassed above 1 crore hits on YouTube.

Ajith's "Vedalam" is in the second place with over 1.45 lakh likes and above 66,000 dislikes. The video has garnered over 60 lakh hits on YouTube after hitting the internet on the midnight of Oct. 8, 2015.

Rajinikanth has a huge fan following worldwide, and the teaser of "Kabali" is being awaited by millions across the globe. Keeping this in mind, it is safe to assume the video may go viral on the internet. But it remains to be seen whether the clip will beat the YouTube records of "Theri" and "Vedalam."

However, the biggest challenge for "Kabali" will be to become the highest-viewed Tamil teaser on YouTube, beating the record of Vikram's "I," which has garnered over 1.1 crore hits, but only 49,000-odd likes and around 3,000 dislikes till date.

Here is the list of Tamil teasers that got stupendous response from the audience in recent years. (Note: These are the numbers taken from YouTube before the article was published.)

Vijay's "Theri" 300,396 55,481 10,363,077

"Kabali" has been written and directed by Pa Ranjith and produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu. Radhika Apte, Dhansika and Kishore are among the cast in the movie, which is about an ageing gangster.
