Rajinikanth's "Kabali" has emerged victorious at the Tamil Nadu box office. The Kollywood movie has turned out to be a profitable venture for the producer and most of the distributors and exhibitors in the state.

The trade reports say that Kalaippuli S Thanu's smart business skills have worked wonders for "Kabali." The movie has been made on a limited budget and the producer has not spent much on the movie promotions like usual big banner films, although he signed deals with many big brands.

Kalaippuli S Thanu has managed to release "Kabali" in over 4500 screens from Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. While the Bollywood version has made a decent collection, the Tollywood version has not lived up to the expectations. However, the Kollywood version has struck gold as it has done well in Tamil Nadu as well as overseas.

In Tamil Nadu, "Kabali" was released in over 600 screens and the movie got an earth-shattering opening. Rajinikanth's flick minted Rs. 21.05 crore on its first day and ended its 3-day weekend at Rs. 46.75 crore.

Now after 11 days of its theatrical run, "Kabali" has minted over Rs. 70 crore with a distributor share of Rs. 51 crore. It is the second best performance of Rajinikanth after his blockbuster "Enthiran."

The trade reports say that the producer had signed a profit sharing agreement (75:25 ratio) with distributors and exhibitors and this has worked out well for all the parties. It has to be seen whether "Kabali" mints over Rs. 100 crore in Tamil Nadu alone.

Meanwhile, "Kabali" has performed exceptionally well in Chennai where it has grossed Rs. 8.26 crore in 10 days. The movie did not face much competition as no big banner films were released last weekend.

"Kabali" is written and directed by Pa Ranjith. Radhika Apte plays the female lead in the flick, which has Kishore, Dhansika and a host of actors in the supporting roles.
