Despite all the pre-release hype, Samsung's new flagship smartphone Galaxy S5 was a disappointment upon its release, as the device did not have many of the rumored features.

This has also cast doubts on whether Apple's much-hyped upcoming smartphone iPhone 6 would have all the speculated features. But if latest reports are anything to go by, features of the Cupertino giant's new flagship device is expected to be far superior to that of its archrival's recently released smartphone.

Apple Inc. is expected to release a 4.7-inch model of iPhone 6, ahead of the bigger variant - a 5.5-inch phablet. The screen size of the smartphone may still be smaller than that of Galaxy S5 but it is big according to iPhone's standards, considering the fact that Apple has been advocating smaller handsets all these years.

The device is expected to have a display with a 1920x1080p (440ppi) resolution, according to South Korean brokerage KDB Daewoo Securities. Samsung's new smartphone also has the same screen resolution.

iPhone is expected to be powered by the A8 chip (64-bit) processor, which is superior to that of Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 used in Galaxy S5. The former runs on iOS 7.2, while the latter on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS.

Apple's new phone may sport a full scratch-free sapphire crystal glass screen and come with low temperature polysilicon in-cell touch panels, Touch ID fingerprint security, NFC, metal casing and an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, according to Apple Insider website, citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Chinese analyst Sun Chang Xu has also claimed that the device would come with sensors that can detect pressure, temperature and humidity.

Samsung Galaxy S5, on the other hand, has features like a 16.0-megapixel camera with HDR, waterproof and dust-resistant IP67 certification, fingerprint-based biometric technology, Kids mode, Private mode, Download booster, S Health v3.0, Bluetooth v4.0 BLE/ANT+, NFC and IR Remote among others. The device was announced in February before being released to the market in April.

Apple Inc. is expected release iPhone 6 in the second half of the year. Several reports have claimed that it would be unveiled in September like its predecessor, while Reuters has stated, citing a report by Taiwan's Economic Daily News, that the release of the 4.7-inch model would happen in August. It is also speculated that the device would be announced at the Apple's upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2014 from 2 to 6 June in San Francisco.
