We just celebrated World Tiger Day, and now it is time to celebrate their brethren, the domestic cats. Every year on 8 August, International Cat Day is celebrated and this year we thought it apt to celebrate it by listing a few feline-loving celebrities.

"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder's love for all animals is well-known, especially his love for cats. He even took his pet Moke to the People's sexiest man alive photo-shoot.

In a recent Instagram post, he shared a picture with a black and captioned it: "Working like crazy from home and randomly snuggling with this tiny child... It's so sad that superstition makes black animals up to seven times less likely to be adopted. Let's stop this please. Let's love these beautiful dark creatures. Can you go to an animal shelter this weekend and adopt one? Please? Make them part of your family and take care of them? I would if I could but I have a full house hold of furry creatures. Superstitions may be fun as a joke with friends however leaving these animals without love and allowing them to be euthanized is not. Just like Stevie Wonder said: 'When you believe in things that you don't understand Then you suffer-superstition ain't the way..." Go adopt please! Love them! Send me pictures!'"

His former girlfriend and former "TVD" co-star posted adorable pictures of her kitties with hilariously cute captions.

Even "Thinking Out Loud" singer Ed Sheeran is a cat-lover. The display picture on his Instagram profile is that of a cute little kitty. Love for cats is probably what he and Taylor Swift bond over, other than love for music that is.
