Vikram-Shankar's "I" is one of the eagerly-awaited films of 2014. The film was in the making for nearly two years and the shooting was completed recently.

"I" producer Aascar Ravichandran had announced that the film will release for Diwali 2014, but it did not happen much to the disappointment of the fans. Post-production work has reportedly delayed the film's release.

Since then, there have been speculations about "I" release date. Buzz was that the film will hit screens in the last week of November. Latest reports have claimed that the Vikram starrer might release in December.

Sources close to the film's director have confirmed that the "I" team is planning to release the film in the second week of December, reported Behindwoods. If it turns out to be true, the film might be clashing with Rajinikanth's "Lingaa," which is slated to hit screens on 12 December. However, an official confirmation regarding the release date of "I" is still awaited.

Directed by Shankar, "I" is a romantic thriller with VIkram appearing in different looks. Amy Jackson plays the female lead, while Bollywood actor Upen Patel and Malayalam star Suresh Gopi appear in pivotal roles. A.R. Rahman has composed the music, while P.C. Sreeram has handled the cinematography.

The first look motion poster and the teaser of the film have generated a lot of buzz surrounding the project. The film's audio, which was released in a grand manner last month, fetched overwhelming response from the fans. Its teaser has fetched more than 8 million views and is expected to cross the 10 million mark.

There are huge expectations for the film as Shankar and Vikram have teamed up for the second time since 2006 when their last flick "Anniyan" hit theatres. Shankar's films speak of grandeur and "I" also falls in the same league. The film is reportedly made with a big budget, though not more than ₹100 crore. While there were speculations that "I" budget is around ₹150 crore, Shankar denied it in an interview with The Hindu and revealed that it is less than ₹100 crore.

The makers of "I" are reportedly planning to release the film in a huge number of screens and in different languages including Telugu, Hindi, English and Chinese. The Vikram starrer is expected to take record openings upon its release.
