Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has issued a recall of 2.24 lakh units of its various models in India to fix faulty airbag inflators.

The recall includes Honda's premium sports utility vehicle CR-V, sedans Civic and City, and premium hatchback Jazz. The recall, which is said to be part of the company's global initiative to replace the faulty airbags, will cover a total of 13,073 units of the CR-V, manufactured between 2004 and 2011, and 54,290 units of the Civic, manufactured between 2003 and 2012.

Besides this, the recall also affects a total of 1, 40,508 units of City, manufactured between 2007 and 2012, and 15,707 units of the Jazz hatchback, manufactured between 2009 and 2011. While some of these models have been affected by faulty driver's side airbag inflators, others have faulty passenger's side airbag inflators.

The affected parts will be replaced free of cost across India from 12 October, 2015 in a phased manner and the owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted directly.

The customers can also visit the company's official website (www.hondacarindia.com) to check if their vehicles have also been affected by entering 17 digits Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite, which has been created on the company's website.
