Alia Bhatt-Randeep Hooda starrer "Highway" has witnessed a slight growth on the second day of its release.

"Highway" started on a slow note and earned only around ₹3.7 crore on its first day. However, the film picked up on Saturday (22 February) and minted ₹4.5 crore, according to Koimoi. The film's two-day collections at the Indian box office now stand at approximately ₹8.25 crore.

The performance of the Alia-Randeep starrer has been decent, considering it released only in around 700 screens in India. The film fared well in urban centres and multiplexes in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai.

How the film performs on the third day (Sunday) remains to be seen. Considering the road movie received mixed reviews from critics, it might not do great business in its opening weekend but it could still mint adequate collections at the domestic box office. One also needs to wait and watch how the film fares on weekdays.

Written and directed by Imtiaz Ali, "Highway" revolves around Alia and Randeep. Though the film received mixed reviews, Alia's performance has been appreciated by critics and several members of the film industry. The film's music was composed by Oscar-winner AR Rahman, while it is jointly produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali.

"Highway" is expected to dominate the screens till the next Friday (28 February), when Farhan Akhtar-Vidya Balan starrer "Shaadi Ke Side Effects" releases. The film is a sequel to the 2006 flick "Pyaar Ke Side Effects", which had Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat in the lead roles. The Farhan-Vidya film has generated a lot of positive pre-release buzz, thanks to the team's active promotions.

The release of "Shaadi Ke Side Effects" is expected to affect the business of "Highway" at the box office.
