Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Happy New Year", which has collected ₹ 44.97 crores in India on the opening day, has opened to a fantastic response in Bangalore too. The Bollywood movie had a record number of shows in the city on the release day and it is the best-ever opening for the King Khan's flick in the recent years. It has made ₹ 2.31 crore from the Mysore circuit.
"Happy New Year" had around 260 shows in Bangalore alone and 460+ shows all of Karnataka on the first day. The wide release has helped the film to reach the maximum audience. As per the official press release from the Red Chillies, the Hindi movie has made ₹2.31 from the Mysore region (Bangalore, Mysore and parts of Karnataka). This clearly shows that the star power of Shah Rukh Khan has worked big time.
The early response coming from theatres clearly reveals that "Happy New Year" has been overwhelmingly welcomed by the audience.
"The response for the advance booking of 'Happy New Year' indicated that the film would make a record-breaking business in the city. The screen count of the show gave a clear picture of the film's demand in Bangalore. 260 shows for Shah Rukh Khan film in Bangalore is a new record," said a source close to IBTimes India.
SRK's last movie "Chennai Express" had about 200 shows on the first day. The film made ₹30 lakh (Mysore circuit) from its preview shows (90 shows).
The film, released in Bangalore (Mysore Circuit) by Yash Raj Pal Films Distributors Pvt. Ltd., is heavily competing with Vijay and Samantha's Tamil movie "Kaththi".
