Half Girlfriend has made decent collection at the domestic box office on its second day. Arjun Kapoor's film has led the race, beating Hindi Medium and the Hindi version of Baahubali 2 on Saturday, May 20.
Half Girlfriend, which was released in 2,500 screens, had a huge hype and promotion before its release. But trade analysts predicted that the Hindi version of Baahubali 2 would once again top the domestic business chart, as the Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer opened to a lukewarm response with average occupancy ranging between 15 to 20 percent in the morning shows on Friday, May 19.
But the Mohit Suri-directed romance drama surprised the trade pandits, by showing a decent growth at the ticket counters in the afternoon and evening shows. Half Girlfriend collected Rs. 10.27 crore at the domestic box office on its opening day. The movie lead the race at the ticket counters, overtaking Baahubali 2 and Hindi Medium, which raked in Rs. 4 crore and Rs. 2.81 crore, respectively, on Friday.
The Arjun Kapoor-starrer received mix response from the audience and critics and the word of mouth took its business upwards by 3.51 percent on Saturday. Half Girlfriend collected Rs. 10.63 crore at the domestic box office on Saturday and its two-day total stands Rs. 20.90 crore nett in India. Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#HalfGirlfriend Fri 10.27 cr, Sat 10.63 cr. Total: ₹ 20.90 cr. India biz.Growth on Sat: 3.51%."
Other two movies also showed decent growth in their collection on Saturday. The Hindi version of Baahubali 2 starring Pabhas and Rana Daggubati collected Rs. 5.50 crore at the Indian box office on its fourth Saturday, taking its 23-day domestic total to Rs. 470 crore nett.
Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium collected Rs. 4.25 crore at the domestic box office on Saturday and its two-day total collection has reached Rs. 67.06 crore nett. Adarsh said in a tweet: "#HindiMedium Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 4.25 cr. Total: ₹ 7.06 cr. India biz. Growth on Sat: 51.25%... EXCELLENT GROWTH!"
As per early trends, Half Girlfriend, The Hindi version of Baahubali 2 and Hindi Medium have shown further growth in their collection at the box office on Sunday, May 21. However, the Arjun Kapoor-starrer will top the domestic business chart this weekend.
