Music composer GV Prakash tied the knot with his childhood friend and playback singer Saindhavi at Vallaimmai Hall, Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Centre in Chennai on 27 June.

Saindhavi and Prakash, who is the nephew of Oscar winner AR Rahman, had been in love for over 10 years and planned to get married last year, but the wedding was pushed to a later date as both were busy with their work commitments. Finally they tied the knot on Thursday (27 June) in the presence of family, friends and well -wishers.

The bridegroom and bride were dressed in traditional costumes for their grand wedding event. The marriage ceremony took place in the morning at around 10.23 followed by a grand reception in the evening. Several members of the south Indian film fraternity graced the wedding ceremony and blessed the couple. Celebrities including Suriya, actor Vijay's mother Shoba, director Maniratnam and his wife Suhasini, Dhanshika, Bala, singer Unnikrishnan, Nithyashree, music composer Deva, LR Eshwari, Bhagyaraj and his family, Balu Mahendra and crazy Mohan were seen at the wedding. 

For the reception in the evening, a host of film stars, businessmen and political leaders graced the occasion with their presence. Vijay, Amala Paul, Jiiva, Dhanush, Atharva, Rajinikanth's wife Latha, A R Rahman, Naresh Iyer, Harris Jeyaraj, Vijay Antony, Dayanidhi Maran, Shalini and her sister Shamili, Parthipan, Vasanthabalan, political leader Stalin, his son Udhayanidhi , star couple Prasanna and Sneha, veteran carnatic musician Dr Balamurali Krishna and director Balachander were among those who attended the reception.

GV Prakash is popular for his compositions in Tamil films. His popular albums include "Veyil",  "Kireedam", "Polladhavan", "Aayirathil Oruvan", "Aadukalam" and the recently released album "Thalaivaa", which has Vijay in the male lead. He has also worked in Bollywood films such as Anurag Kashyap's "Ugly' and "Gangs of Wassepur."

Saindhavi has sung several hit numbers in Tamil films. Some of her popular songs are "Andankakka" from Vikram-starrer "Anniyan" and "Bommayi" from Viyay-starrer "Sura".

The married couple will be heading to Australia for a few weeks to enjoy their honeymoon before resuming their work commitments.
