The Grammy Awards 2014 saw Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis walking away with four awards apiece, at a glittering ceremony held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Daft Punk, who came wearing their trademark helmets, won four awards, including Album of the Year for "Random Access Memories" and Record of the Year for "Get Lucky", which also featured Pharrell Williams.

"I supposed the robots would like to thank... you know, honestly, I bet France is really proud of these guys right now," said Williams on behalf of the duo, who accepted the awards wearing helmets as usual.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won four awards, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album for "The Heist". Lorde got two awards - Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance - for her song "Royals".

Other artists, who were honored at the ceremony, include Kacey Musgraves, Bruno Mars, Michael Buble, Darius Rucker, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Jay Z and Adele.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by LL Cool J, kicked off with Beyonce and Jay Z performing "Drunk In Love". The night also saw a few unlikely combinations - rapper Kendrick Lamar performed with rockers Imagine Dragons, Robin Thicke joined rock band Chicago, while Stevie Wonder performed with Daft Punk.

What stole the spotlight at the ceremony was the marriage of 33 couples while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed "Same Love". The duo performed the gay acceptance hit as 33 same-sex and heterosexual couples got married in the middle of the performance, with Queen Latifah officiating. Madonna joined in wearing an all-white suit and hat, and sang "Open Your Heart" and some of "Same Love" with Mary Lambert. Keith Urban cried and Katy Perry caught a bouquet during the performance, where Ryan Lewis' sister was among those who tied the knot.
