Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney. The international human rights lawyer and her actor husband welcomed their bundles of joy, a boy and a girl, on Tuesday, their representative confirmed in a statement.

"This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine," George Clooney's publicist Stan Rosenfield said in an email. "George is sedated and should recover in a few days," he jokingly added.

Amal and George got married in Italy in 2014. In January, they revealed that they are going to become parents.

Wishes poured in on social media after George, Amal welcomed their twins, and "Ella and Alexander" was among the top trending topics on Twitter. Many people even praised the couple for their choices of names.

Many celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres and journalist Katie Couric, took to social media to congratulate the couple.

"I have no advice because his wife is Lebanese like me and I know his mother-in-law and his sister-in-law and I know those kids cannot be in better hands," Salma Hayek told PEOPLE.

"Congratulations, George and Amal, or as I'm now calling you, Ocean's Four," Ellen tweeted.

Anne Frank Center tweeted: CONGRATULATIONS! Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, a pioneer for refugees, and her husband George are parents of twins Ella and Alexander.
