Telugu movie "Gentleman," starring Nani, Surubhi and Niveda Thomas, has made a good collection at the United States box office in its opening weekend. The film has crossed the half million dollar-mark in three days.

"Gentleman" was accompanied by huge hype and promotion, which helped the makers to sell its distribution rights for record price. ATMUS Entertainment and Gaatri Media Group have jointly acquired its overseas theatrical rights and booked 127 screens across North America. They also made grand arrangements for premiere shows on Thursday.

The Nani, Surubhi and Niveda Thomas-starrer had decent advance ticket booking and registered superb occupancy in the paid preview shows. "Gentleman" collected $ 72,418 at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows. The movie became the biggest opener for Nani, beating the records of "Bhale Bhale Magadivoy" (BBM) and "Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha" (KVPG).

The Mohan Krishna Indraganti-directed romantic thriller film received positive response from the U.S. audience and the strong word-of-mouth reviews helped it gain strength on the following days. "Gentleman" has collected $537,490 (Rs. 3.63 crore) at the U.S box office in the first weekend.

Leading Indian film trade analyst Taran Adarsh ‏tweeted, "Telugu film #Gentleman puts up a STRONG SHOW at USA Boxoffice... Crosses half-million mark on Sun... contd. "Gentleman" has shattered the record of Nani's last release, "Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha," which collected $464,239 at the U.S. box office in its opening weekend. Taran Adarsh had tweeted on Feb 15, 2016: "#KrishnagaadiVeeraPremaGaadha - USA: Thu $ 41,368, Fri $ 103,214, Sat $ 171,447, Sun $ 148,210. Total: $ 464,239 [₹ 3.16 cr]. #KVPG @Rentrak."

But "Gentleman" has failed to break the record of Nani's blockbuster movie, "Bhale Bhale Magadivoi," which collected $718,378 in its opening weekend. Taran Adarsh had tweeted on Sep 7, 2015: "#BhaleBhaleMagadivoi [Telugu] USA: Thu pre $ 70,132, Fri $ 164,459, Sat $ 248,546, Sun $ 235,241. Total: $ 718,378 [₹ 4.80 cr] @RentrakIndia."
