Veteran Bollywood actor Saeed Jaffery, who appeared in several British and Indian movies, has died. He was 86.

Shaheen Aggarwal shared the news of her uncle Saeed's death on her Facebook page.

"Today, a generation of Jaffreys has passed away. Saeed Jaffrey has joined his brothers and sister and is rejoicing in the lap of his Heavenly Father, eternally," Shaheen posted along with his interview.

Saeed is known for his roles in the movies like "Gandhi" (1982), "Masoom" (1982), "Shatranj Ke Khiladi" (1977), "Henna" (1991) "Ram Teri Ganga Maili" (1985), "Chashme-baddoor" (1981), "Kisise Na Kehna", "Judaai" (1997), "Ajooba" (1991) among many others.

He has shared screen space with Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Ben Kingsley, Naseeruddin Shah and Farooq Sheikh to name a few. 

Born in Malerkotla, Punjab, Saeed started his career by starting a theatre company called Unity Theatre, at New Delhi. Saeed was reportedly the first Indian actor to tour Shakespeare.

He was married to actress and travel writer Mehrunima (Madhur Jaffery), but the parted ways in 1965. With Madhur, he has three daughters Meera, Zia, and Sakina Jaffrey, who is also an actress.
