Sansa Stark was rumoured to be pregnant with Ramsay Bolton's child when Game of Thrones Season 6 came to an end in June. But it has now been confirmed that Sophie Turner's character will not be awaiting motherhood when Season 7 returns to television in the summer of 2017.

"I am enormously happy to report that Watchers on the Wall can put a certain 'theory' to bed," Game of Thrones fan site Watchers on the Wall wrote in a post. "If any in our readership believed a certain insistent rumor, the following may be a relief to hear: Sansa will NOT be (or get) pregnant in season seven."

What gave rise to the rumour of Sansa being pregnant is her telling Littlefinger that forcing her to marry Ramsay had left a mark not just on her soul, but physically as well. Later, before Ramsay dies, he tells Sansa that he will always be a part of her. "You can't kill me. I'm part of you now," he said before she fed him to his hounds.

As Game of Thrones fans already know, Sansa was brutally raped by Ramsay on their wedding night and Theon was forced to watch this ordeal. This scene was widely criticised by the audience.

Actor Liam Cunningham had earlier dispelled the pregnancy rumours that Ramsay wasn't talking about Sansa being pregnant when he said he's a part of her.

"Unless [Ramsay's] got one of those Game of Thrones pregnancy sticks, he's not gonna know," Cunningham told TV Guide. "I would imagine it's open to whatever you want it to be, but I think he's saying he's put himself into her head. That's what I took from it. She's never gonna get rid of him because of what he's done to her. He knows what he's done to her… I think he's placed himself in her soul for all the wrong reasons."
