From "Vishwaroopam 2" to "Jai Hind 2", check out the list of upcoming sequels in the Tamil film industry.
Kamal Haasan's magnum opus "Vishwaroopam 2" is a sequel to the 2013 superhit flick "Vishwaroopam".
Unlike the first part which was set in foreign locations, the sequel will be set in India. "Vishwaroopam 2" will reportedly be high on emotional content and will also have a mother-son angle.
Most of the star cast from the first part including Kamal, Pooja Kumar, Andrea, Rahul Bose and Shekar Kapur has been retained for the sequel. Veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rahman and Anant Mahadevan have been added to the cast.
The shooting of "Vishwaroopam 2" has been completed and the post-production work is in full swing. The film, written and directed by kamal, is expected to release soon.
Goli Soda 2
Vijay Milton's newly-released film "Goli Soda" has been getting rave reviews from critics as well as audience.
"Goli Soda" is about four adolescents who try to take on powerful adults and try to create their own identity.
The film's director is planning to do a sequel for the film, which is reportedly titled "Goli Soda 2". According to reports, the shooting for the sequel will commence in September.
Jai Hind 2
"Action King" Arjun is currently busy with his upcoming film "Jai Hind 2", a sequel to the 1994 hit "Jai Hind".
The sequel reportedly deals with the Indian education system and its flaws, and will have all the commercial elements.
"Jai Hind 2" is a multilingual film made in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.
Actor Karthi is reportedly planning to work with director Siva for the "Siruthai" sequel.
The actor is currently busy with "Attakathi" Ranjith's film. According to reports, he will be teaming up with Siva for "Siruthai 2" after completing his upcoming film.
Director Siva, who is basking in the success of "Veeram", will reportedly begin working on the script of "Siruthai 2".
Earlier, there were reports that director Sundar C will commence the shooting of "Kalakalappu 2", a sequel to his 2012 comedy entertainer "Kalakalappu", in January 2014.
However, the director is currently busy with the shooting of his new film "Aranmanai", starring Hansika, Santhanam, Andrea and Lakshmi Rai among others. It is not clear when the director will commence the "Kalakalappu" sequel.
Latest buzz in Kollywood is that there might be a sequel to Shankar's "Jeans", which starred Prashanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles.
Apparently, Prashanth's father, Thiagarajan, has registered the title "Jeans 2" with the film chamber. But there is no official confirmation regarding the sequel.
