The waiting period of the much-acclaimed compact SUV Ford EcoSport has reportedly reached 12 months due to the scaling demand for the vehicle in the domestic auto market.
Ford India, which suspended the bookings of some of the variants of its EcoSport, has now extended the waiting period of almost all variants upto 12 months.
The EcoSport received a colossal 30,000 bookings within the first 17 days of its launch in India on 26 June and it is facing delivery problems again in India. Despite the continuing attention received by the EcoSport from all the corners of the world, the company's incapability to meet the scaling demand has raised a few eyebrows in the market.
A report from Business Standard has confirmed the same when it noted that the extended waiting period of Ford EcoSport has started creating pandemonium amongst the takers of the vehicles, forcing many to cancel their booking.
"The waiting period for all the variants of EcoSport has gone upto 12 months, and many of the people who had booked the car have either cancelled their bookings or planning to do the same," the report noted.
In a separate report by IndianAutosblog, it was mentioned that the base diesel variants such as the Ambiente and the Trend now have a waiting period ranging from 4-9 months. The scenario was not the same a few days back. The waiting period for the base diesel variants such as the Ambiente and the Trend was 1-3 months.
