There have been conjectures that Deepika Padukone may feature in a cameo role in S. S. Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2." However, sources have now rubbished the news saying it's only a rumour.

"Even we were surprised when we came across this news. It's just a rumour, which we don't even know how it was circulated in the first place," IANS quoted a source in the know.

Likely to release on April 14, 2017, the film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead. The second instalment is being made on a grander scale and will feature action sequences of Hollywood standards.

Deepika starring in the sequel to the epic adventure film couldn't have been a possibility because before jetting off to Toronto, Canada, where she is shooting for her maiden Hollywood film "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage," she said she hadn't signed any film for this year.

However, she did express an interest in doing the Saina Nehwal biopic. "We have played together many a times and she was always way better than me. I think we had fun times together. Anything for the love of sport and especially for badminton," she told Press Trust of India earlier this year.

The third instalment of the "XXX" franchise will see Deepika essay the role of Serena, girlfriend to Vin Diesel's character Xander. The D.J. Caruso directorial, which arrives in theatres Jan. 20, 2017, also features Tony Jaa, Ruby Rose and Nina Dobrev in key roles.
