Italy face a tough prospect in getting out of Group DReuters

Group D is one of the most difficult groups to get out of with England, Italy and Uruguay all capable of going deep in the tournament, while Costa Rica will look to put a dent or two on the other three team's hopes.

Italy will start as the favourites to go through, with Uruguay and England in a tight battle with Cesare Prandelli's side. Any of the above three teams can top the group or finish second, and early victories in their group matches will probably decide the manner in which the final standings will read.
