Fiat India will next launch Punto Abarth, the real hot hatch coming to India. There were many speculations on the price of the car, which hovers around Rs 10 lakh.
A latest report from Oncars indicates the vehicle is scheduled to launch on 10 October. The bookings for the car have already started against a down payment of Rs 20,000. The booking amount is fully refundable in case of cancellation.
Punto Abarth is powered by 1.4-litre T-JET turbocharged petrol engine that can churn out 145bhp power at 6,000rpm and 200Nm torque at 1,750rpm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox and is likely to clock 0-100kmph in eight seconds. Punto Abarth will be produced along with Punto hatchback.
Visually, Punto Abarth will remain almost the same as the current Punto Evo available in the market. The vehicle will boast of contrasting ORVM and 'T-Jet' badge on the bootlid. Punto Abarth will get sporty body decals on the bottom of both sides. It will come with the Scorpion logo exclusive for Abarth high performance models.
Inside the cabin, the upcoming hot hatch will get fabric upholstery with contrast stitching in red and yellow and sportier steel pedals. The ride height of the car will be 20mm lower than usual and the vehicle packs dual airbags and ABS as standard features promising a safe and secure ride.
