Eros International has once again bagged a biggie. The Mumbai-based company has acquired the distribution rights of Rajinikanth's upcoming movie "Lingaa".

As per the latest buzz, "Lingaa" worldwide theatrical rights of multiple languages has been procured by the Eros International for a fancy price, ₹125 crore. In the history of South Indian films, this is said to be the highest-ever amount paid for a movie.

Meanwhile, Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International, has said, "We are delighted to present the release Rajinikanth's much-anticipated movie 'Lingaa'. Audiences across the globe keenly await his first live action movie after the blockbuster 'Robot'. There is a huge buzz within the consumers and trade for the film and we are excited."

On the other end, producer Rockline Venkatesh said, "We are very pleased to associate with a leading studio like Eros to present a prestigious project like 'Lingaa' starring superstar Shri Rajinikanth. With their global positioning, we hope to present the film on a worldwide platform with maximum reach".

Eros, which also acquired the audio rights of "Lingaa", had earlier distributed Rajinikanth's movie "Kochadaiiyaan" (2014). The film was sold for an earth-shattering price, but it did not make business up to the expected level.

Meanwhile, the team is getting ready for the audio release function. The music release event will be held on 16 November.

Apart from Rajinikanth, "Lingaa" also has Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles. The KS Ravikumar directorial has AR Rahman's music, Rathavelu's cinematography and Samjith's editing.

The movie is likely to release simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on the superstar' birthday, 12 December.
