Apart from his acting skills, young Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan is known in the industry as a biker too. Now, as part of Kerala motor vehicle department's safe riding campaign, the enthusiastic traveller will play a lead role in a social awareness short film.

The film will be made by the students of St Joseph's College of Communication in Changanassery, Kottayam and will be produced for Rs 12 lakh by Indian car maker Maruti Suzuki.

Interestingly, the top actor of the Malayalam entertainment industry will work free for the campaign.

The short film aims to create an awareness among the younger generation on the importance of riding safely on roads. The film will show a group of riders, led by Dulquer and it is believed that one among them will fake an accident during the course of performing bike stunts. The film will also remind the youth to think about their family who pray for their safe return.

Transport Commissioner Tomin Thachankary confirmed that the film will be screened on popular TV channels, theatres, railway stations and bus stands in association with the public relations department of the Kerala government.

Earlier in 2013, Dulquer had played the role of a full time biker in Sameer Thahir's critically acclaimed film "Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi".

The shooting for the upcoming short film has already started in Kochi even though Dulquer has a handful of projects in his kitty.

Meanwhile, Martin Prakkat's upcoming film "Charlie" starring Dulquer and Parvathy in the lead roles is expected to hit screens on 20 November.
