"Dragon Ball Super," the popular anime TV show from Toei Animation, aired episode 44 titled "Seal of Planet Potofu — Secret of the Superhuman Water is Unleashed," on May 22, exclusively on Japanese Fuji TV.
The theme of the anime show, until recently, had been the Champa saga, which saw Champa and Beerus squaring off in a multiverse tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7. But the tournament got completed in episode 41, and the Champa saga ended as well. This episode and its previous episodes have worked as fillers before the next saga begins in June.
Episode 43 was a filler episode that saw King Kai advising Goku to rest as he was facing a peculiar illness following the usage of Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken technique in the multi-verse tournament. We also see Piccolo advising Goku on babysitting before the latter is berated for losing Pan. Also, Pan is seen using her powers and her ability to fly when the Pilaf gang tries to kidnap her.
Meanwhile, episode 44 takes us to a new planet called Planet Potaufeu, and the first few scenes are about the environment of the planet with its mushroom trees. We see an old man being attacked by a group of green aliens, Attack of the Fanboy said in its review.
Soon the episode heads to Earth and we see Monaka at Capsule Corp. Monaka has started his delivery duty and was delivering a package to Bulma. She asks Monaka to help her in her experiment. Even as Saiyan kids Trunks and Goten are seen playing around. They get into Monaka's delivery truck and start playing inside.
Monaka does not realise that these kids are inside the truck and drives away with them. Trunks and Goten are seen shouting but Monaka is busy listening to the radio. Monaka ends up in Planet Potaufeu.
When Monaka opens the door after landing on the new planet, both the kids are seen in a frozen condition. The old man we saw at the start of the episode is seen again running towards Monaka. We are told that he had ordered a tape about martial arts and Monaka had come there to deliver it.
The big green aliens who were seen in the beginning play catch up with the old man and want a fight with him. Luckily for the old man, Trunks and Goten come to the rescue and save him from being killed.
The aliens were after an item that was hanging around the old man's neck. The item is some sort of powerful water that allows the person who drinks it to acquire the power of the entire planet. If the item gets into wrong hands, it could be disastrous.
But sadly during the fight, the aliens manage to grab the powerful water from the old man's neck. They also manage to capture Monaka, who is passed out. Later they also capture the old man, Trunks and Goten.
On Earth, however, the disappearance of Trunks and Goten worries Bulma. She checks the video feed from the security camera and realises that the kids were in Monaka's truck.
We also see Jaco telling her that he was searching for a criminal called Grill. This Grill happens to be the henchman of the big green aliens who have captured Trunks and Goten.
Jaco and Vegeta get ready to rescue them from Planet Potaufeu.
In the meantime, Bulma calls up Chi-Chi to tell her about Goten's disappearance and how they were mistakenly landed at Planet Potaufeu. But Chi-Chi is unable to provide much help as Goku is away training with King Kai, recuperating from his illness and getting back in shape.
We see Vegeta arriving just in time to deflect a laser blast being thrown at Trunks. Trunks and Goten have escaped their captives by using their ability to fly. Now Vegeta faces the dangerous Grill, the henchman of the group. Grill discharges a purple sludge on Vegeta that results in a purple clone of Vegeta. This concludes episode 44.
Meanwhile, Toei Animation has shared the preview of episode 45, titled " Vegeta Disappears?! The Threat of Duplicated Vegeta!"
The next episode takes forward the story of what happens to Vegeta after the purple sludge attack. The preview video shows Goten telling us that following the appearance of Vegeta's purple clone, the real Vegeta is now unable to use his powers. The kids are seen asking what the water was and what powers it has. We also see Trunks, Goten and Jaco panicking to see Vegeta's body starting to disappear. We will have to wait to see what happens to Vegeta in the next episode on May 29.
