Ram Charan's much-talked-about movie Dhruva is successful in meeting the expectations that it created before its release. The film manages to be a perfect treat for action lovers and the fans of the mega family.

Dhruva is remake of blockbuster Tamil action thriller Thani Oruvan. Director Surender Reddy has remained honest to the original story, but he has made some minor changes in the screenplay to suit the taste of local Telugu audience. He has added some commercial ingredients including the addition of a couple songs to give a mass touch to the film.

The movie revolves around story of young IPS officer Dhruva (Ram Charan), who is committed to eradicate crime. During his training period, he tries to understand the root cause of all kinds of crimes and he finds there is one man, who is responsible for all the alleged activities. He is none other than Siddharth Abhimanyu (Aravind Swamy), a scientist with a Padma Shri award. How Dhruva hunts down this mastermind and destroys his crime syndicate forms the crux of the story.

Dhruva has a simple story that has been brought it on screens several times on screens. But several interesting twists keep the audience hooked to seat. The first few minutes of the film are thrilling, but rest of the first half is all about romance of the lead pair, and then the film turns serious with twist before the interval. The mind game between the hero and the villain keep the audience hooked. The climax is even more thrilling.

Ram Charan has played the cop originally played by Jayam Ravi, but unlike Ravi, the mega power star has done lot of hard work to flaunt a chiseled body in Dhruva. He has delivered wonderful performance and he impresses the viewers with dare-devil stunts and dialogue delivery. The actual highlight of the film is the antagonist and Aravind Swamy, who played the same role in Thani Oruvan, has done a brilliant job.

Rakul Preet has not much scope for performance in Dhruva, but she impresses you with her glamour and sparkling chemistry with Ram Charan. Navdeep has good scope for acting and he has done brilliant job. Krishna Murali Posani's comedy timing is one of the attractions of the film. Nasser, Sayaji Shinde and others have done justice to their roles and they are also assets of the movie.

Dhruva has brilliant production values. Its background score plays a crucial role in the film and Hiphop Tamizha has done a good job, which elevates several intense scenes. His songs are good, but they appear as speed breaks to the tempo. However, the exotic locales and amazing dance choreography make them an interesting watch. Brilliant action choreography, dialogues and art direction are other attractions on the technical front.

Having said this, Dhruva is not a perfect film and it suffers from lack of logic here and there. There is no much clarity on how Dhruva collects so much of information about Siddharth during his training period, when he is not allowed to go out of campus. It is also not clear how he manages to have high-tech office and keep it under wraps. However, these minor things will not deter you from enjoying the thriller film.

Verdict: Dhruva is a must-watch movie for its intelligent and thrilling screenplay, brilliant performance by Ram Charan and Aravind Swamy and superb production values. If you are a Cherry fan, then don't miss it. It's a grand treat for you.
