The "Dhoom" franchise is getting bigger with every instalment. For "Dhoom 4," the makers had Salman Khan in mind, but after he turned down the offer citing reasons of his own, they have shifted focus to Shah Rukh Khan.

As opposed to Salman, SRK has no reservations in playing an antagonist on celluloid as he has done it quite a few times before and nailed it. The "Fan" actor is figuring out the remuneration bit of the project, reported DNA and an official announcement is awaited.

If all falls in place, Shah Rukh will play a thief (just like John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan did previously) and chasing him around will be Ranveer Singh as ACP Jay Dixit, a part that Abhishek Bachchan played to perfection all these years.

"Adi's strategy worked with each Dhoom being bigger than the earlier one at the box-office In Dhoom Reloaded, while Ranveer will now be ACP Jai Dixit, Uday Chopra, who played Ali, will sit out of this project," a source told the daily.

What else do we know?

For the longest time, there were reports that claimed Salman has agreed to come on board the project and that he will be seen romancing Vaani Kapoor in "Dhoom 4." Apparently, the action-thriller will be helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor and the action-sequences are to be shot in America.

Trivia

In other news, this isn't the first time that a film Salman rejected went to Shah Rukh. "Baazigar," which is still remembered for SRK's brilliant portrayal of the cynical Ajay Sharma, was first offered to the "Sultan" actor. "Josh," "Kal Ho Naa Ho" and "Chak De! India" are some of the other films that Shah Rukh bagged after Salman refused to take up. What's interesting is, all these films were major box office hits and have stayed with the audience till today.
