Datsun India released the first pictures of the upcoming redi-Go hatchback ahead of the scheduled unveiling April 14. The sketch images leave just the interiors of the car for imagination. The production specification does justice to the concept model unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014.

The face of the hatchback features large grille with chrome outline. This is flanked by sleek headlamps. The vehicle features a prominent crease line running from the lower front bumper to the tail lamps. It gets black rear-view mirror cover and B-pillar. The six-spoke alloy wheels also get the black colour theme. The rear profile is simple and clean. The redi-Go, the third car from the Datsun brand for India, features a tall boy design. Unlike the previous models, the redi-Go underpins CMF-A platform developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance. This is the second model to use CMF-A platform, the first being Renault Kwid.

The hatchback was recently spotted during road test under camouflage in Chennai. It was seen flaunting new features and also sported a crossover-like plastic rear bumper. The redi-Go is expected to come with all the features of the Kwid, except the touch-screen navigation system.

Under the hood, Datsun redi-Go is likely to get an 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission as well as automated manual transmission (AMT). The redi-Go is also rumoured to get a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine developed by Nissan at a later stage. Reports indicate the redi-Go will be more affordable than the Renault Kwid. The Kwid range currently starts at Rs. 2.59 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
