Coolpad launched its first flagship smartphone in India back in May for Rs 24,999, which was out of its budget pricing trend as seen in the previous models. The flagship did not create as much friction as its low-cost siblings, but the company has finally decided to adjust the price of Max to make it a total worth for smartphone shoppers.

The timing of the price cut couldn't be more perfect as people are already in the festive mood and Coolpad is also planning to launch a new high-end smartphone on Sept. 23. The details about the upcoming premium smartphone are pretty thin at the moment, except for a few teasers shared by the company. But, in the meantime, shoppers can take advantage of the current offer.

Coolpad Max was launched at Rs 24,999 exclusively on Amazon India. But it is now available for Rs 13,999, saving a whopping Rs. 11,000 on both gold and rose gold editions.

We reviewed Coolpad Max in June and found the handset to have the best of Coolpad's design when compared to its other smartphones, combined with good photography skills, performance and battery. The handset's price dragged it down from being one of the best-sellers like its other siblings.

At around Rs 25,000, there are several options for consumers such as OnePlus 3, Xiaomi Mi 5, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and upcoming Lenovo Z2 Plus. The price cut is a smart decision and makes it one of the primary contenders in the sub-Rs 15,000 category.

In terms of specs, Coolpad Max features a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, a 13MP primary camera, a 5MP front snapper, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 617 CPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. It has a unique dual space function that separates the phone into two modes using BiLogin technology and has full metal chassis. There is a fingerprint scanner for security and a powerful 2,800mAh battery.

More than bowing down to the competition, the latest price drop on Coolpad Max suggests that the new smartphone, which is touted as a "Beast," is going to be just as competitive with an effective price tag. Based on the rumours so far, we have learnt that it will have a massive 5,000mAh battery, Snapdragon chipset and 4GB RAM. Stay tuned for updates.
