Chelsea are on the verge of signing 20-year-old Dutch midfielder, Marco van Ginkel as they have reached an agreement with Vitesse for his transfer. He will join the club after a medical.

"Chelsea Football Club and Vitesse Arnhem have reached an agreement for the transfer of Marco van Ginkel," Chelsea said in a statement. "The player will join Chelsea subject to a medical, agreement of personal terms and legal documentation."

He will be Jose Mourinho's second signing in his second spell at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea had signed Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle last month in a reported £17million deal.

It is also reported that The Blues are eyeing some names like Daniele de Rossi, Wayne Rooney, Wesley Sneijder, Edin Dzeko and Eliaquim Mangala.

Chelsea are plotting to sign Roma star Daniele de Rossi in a £10million deal and make him their new midfield general, according to The Mirror. It may be recalled that Mourinho had tried to sign him when he was the boss of Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The Telegraph has reported that Chelsea are prepared to offer £20m for Wayne Rooney if David Moyes fails to convince him to stay at Manchester United.

The 27-year-old England striker, who still has two more years left with Old Trafford in his current deal, has been linked to a few big clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, ever since reports surfaced that he had placed a transfer request to Sir Alex Ferguson after being sidelined in Manchester United following Robin van Persie's signing last season.
