Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is reportedly on the verge of completing a £32 million move to Chelsea, according to ESPN.

The Brazil born striker, who has enjoyed a very successful season with Atletico Madrid, scoring 27 goals from 34 appearances in the La Liga, had been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the season.

The Blues ended the 2013/14 season without winning a single piece of silverware, despite doing fairly well in the Premier league and the Champions League.

The West London club ended the 2013/14 season in third place, four points behind Premier League Champions Manchester City and two points behind Liverpool. Many believe that Chelsea's lack of fire power cost them Premier League as they struggled to register wins against small teams.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that the Blues will be signing a big name striker in the summer to bring an end to their lack of fire power up front, according to The DailyStar.

Despite having the likes of Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o leading their attack, Chelsea were unable to rely on the trio as they appeared very inconsistent, scoring only 19 goals between them this season.

The Blues do have one more promising striker in the form of Romelu Lukaku, who will be returning after a successful loan spell at Everton. However, Mourinho is said to be keen on offloading the Belgian, with Tottenham and Everton eager to get his signature, reported The Daily Mail.

Now with Lukaku, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba probably packing their bags at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will want to wrap up Costa's deal as soon as possible.

While Sky Sports reports that the transfer will be completed in June, local media in Spain claim that a €60m (£48.9) has already been agreed between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

Costa, however, has refused to comment on his reported move to Chelsea, saying he is still looking forward to helping Atletico win the Champions League and the La Liga.

"I feel good at Atletico, I am happy in Madrid. We will see what happens. There are offers, but it is too early yet to talk. Now I am just thinking about the end of the season, I want to win the Champions League and La Liga," said the 25-year-old.
