It is down to the final four teams in the Champions League and Europa League and after the completion of the second leg matches during the week, teams will now discover their fate in the semi-finals later today.

The biggest shock heading into the semi-finals of the Champions League is that Barcelona will not be there. The La Liga giants were not able to repeat their performance from the previous round that saw them overturn a 4-0 first leg deficit against PSG as they lost to Juventus.

The reigning Italian champions will be looking to win their first title since 1996 and after knocking out Barcelona, and with Bayern Munich also eliminated, Juventus have a real chance to win Europe's elite club competition. They did reach the finals in the 2014-15 season but lost to Barcelona in the finals and they have a really good chance to make up for that with Real Madrid the only team that can cause them any real harm.

Zinedine Zidane won the Champions League in his first season in charge with Real Madrid and the former Madrid player has a really good chance to make it two wins in two seasons. No club has ever successfully defended their Champions League trophy so far and Zidane and his men have a really good chance to be the first team to do so.

Atletico Madrid and Monaco are the final two teams to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. While not a lot of people would be surprised to see Atletico reach this stage of the tournament, Monaco were never tipped to reach the semi-finals when the season began.

The French based club, currently top of the League 1 table, have surprised a lot of people this season with their attractive style of playing and the number of youth players that have come into the first team this season. They knocked out Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund and could cause a few more upsets along the way.

The Europa League draw will also be taking place today after the Champions League draw comes to an end with Manchester United, Lyon, Ajax and Celta Vigo the four teams. Jose Mourinho and his men have a really good chance to win the Europa League this season and secure Champions League football for next season should they miss out on a top four finish.

Mourinho stated that the Europa League is their main priority and given the players that Manchester United possess, one would expect them to win it. The only real threat the Red Devils could face is against Lyon as the French club have really improved their game in the second half of the season.

Against all odds, Celta Vigo have managed to reach the semi-finals of a major UEFA competition for the first time after they managed to hold out Genk to a 1-1 draw in the second leg. The Spanish team is the dark horse at this stage of the tournament but given football's unpredictability, they could just go all the way.

Finally, despite losing the second leg 3-2 to Schalke, Ajax managed to progress to the next round as they won 3-4 on aggregate. The Dutch team have reached the semi-finals of a European competition for the first time since the 1996/97 season.

The Champions League and Europa League draws are unseeded at this stage of the tournament so any team can face any team. The first leg of the champions League semi-finals will be played on May 2 and 3, with the return leg the following week. The first legs of the Europa League semi-finals will be played on May 4, with the return leg scheduled for the following week.
