"Vallavanuku Pullum Aayudham"

Santhanam's "Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham" ("VPA") has taken a good opening at the Chennai box office. The film registered average theatre occupancy of 85 percent and is estimated to have grossed over ₹43 lakh, according to Behindwoods.

"VPA" was slated to hit the screens on 16 May, but the release date was advanced owing to the delay in "Kochadaiiyaan" release. The Santhanam starrer opened to decent reviews from critics as well as from the audience on Saturday (10 May). Thanks to the weekend, the film managed to take a good opening in the first two days of its release. It will be interesting to see how the film fares in the coming days.

"Yaamirukka Bayamey"

The horror comedy film, which has also cashed in on "Kochadaiiyaan" release delay, has taken an average opening at the Chennai box office.

The film registered average theatre occupancy of 65 percent and minted over ₹32 lakh in its opening weekend. Although the Kreshna starrer took an average opening, its business is expected to pick up considering that the film has received positive reviews from the critics and the audience alike.

"Vaayai Moodi Pesavum"

Balaji Mohan's "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum" has emerged as one of the good films released this year.

The film, which hit the screens on 25 May, is still running well in theatres. The Dulquer Salmaan-Nazriya Nazim starrer has minted over ₹93 lakh till 11 May.

"Maan Karate"

Sivakarthikeyan-Hansika starrer "Maan Karate" has turned out to be hit at the box office. The film has minted over ₹4 crore in Chennai as of 11 May.

The romantic fantasy entertainer is all set to complete 50-day theatrical run next week.

Despite several new releases, "Maan Karate" has managed to hold well and emerge as a winner. It has become the biggest hit in Sivakarthikeyan's career.
