John Abraham's action drama "Rocky Handsome" was released on Good Friday holiday, but the film failed to translate the holiday buzz into a good opening day at the box office. On the other hand, Punjabi film "Ambarsariya" registered a strong first day.

Rocky Handsome

The John-starrer, which received negative reviews, had the eighth highest opening day box office collection of 2016. The first day box office business of Nishikant Kamat's action thriller "Rocky Handsome" is Rs 5.29 crore.

"Rocky Handsome" recorded low opening day figure because of strong competition from Hollywood film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and the occupancy was also affected by negative reviews.

"#RockyHandsome Thu previews 1.77 cr, Fri 5.29 cr. Total: ₹ 7.06 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film earned Rs 1.77 crore from its paid reviews, which took place before its release. Adding the paid preview figure to its opening day income, the box office collection of "Rocky Handsome" stands at Rs 7.06 crore.

The film, which is based on South Korean film "The Man from Nowhere," features John in the lead role and Shruti Haasan, Nishikant Kamat and Sharad Kelkar as supporting characters.

Ambarsariya
