Sridevi's comeback film, "English Vinglish", has been highly appreciated by film critics but it failed to attract audience on its opening day at the domestic box office despite positive word of mouth.

Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal starrer satirical-comedy-drama film "OMG Oh My God" dominated the box office for the second Friday, affecting the business of new releases like "English Vinglish" and Vivek-Mallika starrer "Kismet Love Paisa Dilli".

According to early estimates, Sridevi starrer raked in Rs 2.80 crore on its opening day at domestic BO.

The movie opened to morning shows with occupancy of about 20 percent but picked up in the late evening shows to about 35 percent, Koimoi.com reports.

The multiplexes in metros and other urban centers showed the growth in occupancy.

The movie directed by Gauri Shine received positive reviews from critics for the actress's mind-blowing performance. It was the much-awaited comeback film of the years as it marks the return of Bollywood diva Sridevi to silver screen after a gap of 14 years.

Although, the opening day business of the film was disappointing, it is expected to get picked later in the weekend. The collections will highly depend on multiplexes to earn decent numbers at the BO.

Paresh Rawal's "OMG Oh My God!" too had a dull start in the opening day, but the movie has seen a huge jump in its collection later in the week.

It made remarkable business earning Rs 36.94 crore in its first week.

Like OMG, new release EV is also expected to earn some decent numbers in the weekend.
