Check out the Chennai box office collection report of Hansika's "Aranmanai", Bobby Simha's "Aadama Jaichomada", Vikram Prabhu's "Sigaram Thodu" and Kreshna's "Vanavarayan Vallavarayan."

"Aranmanai"

Hansika-Andrea-Raai Laxmi's "Aranmanai" has taken a good opening in Chennai. The film dominated the Chennai screens and witnessed average theatre occupancy of 85% in its opening weekend.

The horror comedy entertainer is estimated to have grossed ₹89.48 lakh in the first weekend at the Chennai box office, according to Behindwoods. The multi-starrer has been the first choice of the public over new releases.

Directed by Sundar C, "Aranmanai" involves a palace, which is believed to be haunted. Why is it haunted and what happens to a group of family members who decide to see the palace, their ancestral property.

The film has the director himself playing a pivotal role, while the other cast members include Vinay, Santhanam, Nithin Satya, Kovai Sarala and Manobala.

The horror comedy film received decent reviews from the critics, while the audience seems to have liked it, which is evident from the collections. "Aranmanai," which had a wide release in Tamil Nadu, is expected to dominate the screens until the release of upcoming films this Friday.

Karthi's "Madras" and Vishnu Vishal's "Jeeva" are set to hit the screens on 26 September. The release of these two films might reduce the screen count for "Aranmanai," thereby affecting its business.

"Aadama Jaichomada"

The film, starring Bobby Simha and Karunakaran, has taken an average opening at the Chennai box office.

Directed by Badri, "Aadama Jaichomada" deals with spot fixing in a humorous manner. The film received decent reviews from the critics, but it has managed to get only an average opening due to competition from "Aranmanai." The comedy entertainer has minted over ₹16 lakh in its opening weekend at the Chennai box office. It needs to be seen as to how the film fares in the coming days.

Sigaram Thodu

Vikram Prabhu's "Sigaram Thodu" has witnessed drops in its collections due to new releases. The action entertainer, which hit the screens during the last weekend, took a good opening at the Chennai box office.

The film was dominating the screens until the horror-comedy film, "Aranmanai", hit theatres on 19 September. The Vikram Prabhu starrer has minted over ₹1.45 crore in 10 days, according to Behindwoods. It is currently listed third after "Aranmanai" and "Aadama Jaichomada" at the Chennai box office.

Vanavarayan Vallavarayan

Kreshna-Ma Pa Ka Anand starrer "Vanavarayan Vallavarayan" has managed to hold on to some screens despite a spate of new releases. Although the film's collections have dropped, it is still doing average business. The comedy entertainer has minted over ₹61 lakh in 10 days at the Chennai box office.
