Akshay Kumar's "Baby" has crossed ₹90 crore mark in three weeks, while Amitabh Bachchan's "Shamitabh" managed to collect just ₹16 crore.
Amitabh-Dhanush starrer "Shamitabh" might have fetched good reviews, but the film failed to strike gold at the collection centers.
Big B is no doubt one of the biggest stars of Bollywood, but his charm failed to work at the box office. His latest film "Shamitabh" got positive reviews and was also promoted heavily, but the film failed to pull the crowd.
In five days, the film minted only ₹16 crore from domestic box office.
"#Shamitabh Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 4.75 cr, Sun 5 cr, Mon 1.85 cr, Tue 1.50 cr. Total: ₹ 16.60 cr. India biz," trade analysts Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film was made on a budget of ₹25 crore and looking at its box office run one can predict that the film needs to show growth or remain steady to at least earn the production cost.
R. Balki's directorial film is struggling at the box office and with "Roy" releasing on Friday it will have a tough time surviving in India.
Neeraj Pandey's directorial film "Baby" is probably the only commercial movie of 2015, until now. The film has earned ₹91.15 crore after its 19 days run and now its heading for ₹100 crore mark.
"Baby" is the highest grosser film of 2015, so far. But like "Shamitabh", "Baby" too will face big competition from Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer "Roy".
