Silambarasan's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada and latest movie Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru have ruled the Chennai box office last weekend. Both the movies have made good collections despite the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada had 282 shows in its second weekend from which it has collected Rs 1.01 crore. The total collection of the movie in the capital city of Tamil Nadu stands at Rs 4.54 crore. In the first weekend, the Simbu-starrer had raked in Rs 2.05 from 495 shows. It is now inching towards getting the 'hit' status.

Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru has collected Rs 72.37 lakh in its opening weekend. It is considered to be a big number for a GV Prakash Kumar film, say trade experts. The comedy factor was the driving force behind its success. But it has to be seen how it will perform in the days to come, given the mixed reviews from the viewers.

Hollywood movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is off to a good start at the Chennai box office. In the first weekend, the English flick has earned Rs 38.67 lakh from 156 shows. Bollywood movie Force 2 has got an average opening as it earned Rs 17.62 lakh from 90 shows.

Another Hollywood flick Doctor Strange has raked in Rs 6.92 lakh from 42 shows to take its total tally to Rs 69.64 lakh by the end of its third weekend.

The business of Karthi's Kashmora has slowed down in Chennai. It could collect only Rs 1.63 lakh from 21 shows. The total collection of the flick stands at Rs 2.94 crore.

Dhanush's Kodi too entered its fourth weekend and collected Rs 1.45 lakh from 15 shows. The total collection of the movie stands at Rs 3.57 crore. Meen Kuzhambum Mann has raked less than a lakh to end its second weekend at Rs 15.52 lakh.
