Ajith's "Veeram" and Vijay's "Jilla" are performing exceptionally well in overseas markets besides India.

US

Ajith's "Veeram" has fared better than Vijay's "Jilla" at the US box office. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Veeram" raked in $201,101 (₹1.24 crore) from 67 screens at the US box office, whereas "Jilla" minted $192,858 (₹1.19 crore) from 69 screens in its opening weekend. UK

Vijay starrer was ahead of Ajith's "Veeram" in the UK and Ireland during the first weekend. "Jilla" opening weekend collections from the UK and Ireland stand at £152,552 (₹1.54 crore). "Veeram" grossed £62,233 (₹62.98 lakh). [Note: The screen count for both films varies. While "Jilla" was released in 44 screens, "Veeram" was shown in 24 screens]

Australia

In Australia, "Veeram" grossed A$61,811 (₹34.33 lakh) from seven screens, while "Jilla" fetched A$31,679 (17.59 lakh) from three screens.

Malaysia

Both the Vijay and Ajith starrers have rocked the Malaysian market, which is considered to be a strong foot-hold for Tamil films. "Veeram" has earned Malaysian Ringgits 376,859 (₹71.03 lakh) from 33 screens in its opening weekend. "Jilla" grossed Malaysian Ringgits 414,050 (₹78.02 lakh) from 36 screens.

The films have fared better than blockbuster flick "Dhoom 3" at the Malaysian box office. The Aamir Khan starrer that released on 20 December has earned Malaysian Ringgits 346,963 (₹65.41 lakh) at the end of the fourth weekend. Interestingly, "Jilla" and "Veeram" have surpassed "Dhoom 3" collections in its opening weekend.

The action-packed entertainers have also received good response in France. Details about the collections in the country are not yet available.
