Befikre
Here is the review of Befikre starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani KapoorTwitter

RATING: 2.5/5

I woke up as a happy carefree soul today for two reasons -- first, it is a Friday and weekend is just a few hours away, and second I was supposed to watch and review Befikre. However, after watching the movie, all my joy has turned into disappointment.

Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor-starrer Befikre was a hyped movie for the much talked about 23 kisses. Sadly, there is hardly anything more to the movie other than the lip-locks and some funny moments.

STORYLINE

Dharam (Ranveer) is a stand-up-comedian, who is capable of hooking up with most of the hot girls, if not all, with his charm and funny one-liners. Shyra (Vaani) is an Indian girl, who is born and brought up in France, and leads her life on her own terms.

Dharam travels to France to try his luck as a stand-up-comedian at his friend's club and collectively earn handsome bucks. Being the playboy that he is, he decides to get "garam" at a party, but none of the French girls pay any attention to the handsome desi munda.

He then meets Shyra at the same party and without wasting much time, Dharam starts hitting on her. Impressed with his funny pick-up lines, Shyra gives him a chance and tells him that she is ready to go with him if the Delhi-lad is daring enough to perform a task.

Dharam performs the dare in style and very soon the two engage in the first kiss in the movie, before they end up sleeping together the same night. Dharam and Shyra are extremely crazy and neither of them believes in commitment.

With the promise to "never say I love you" to each other, Dharam and Shyra remain in a relationship for one year, until the two break up on a bitter note due to some differences. While Shyra turns into a much sober person post the break-up, Dharam continues to hone his casanova skills with other girls.

Nevertheless, the two former love-birds come across each other again and Dharam asks her if they can be friends. They again start hanging out together, but this time just as friends and unconsciously, they get attached to each other once again.

In the mean time, another man enters Shyra's life and proposes her for marriage. With some advice from Dharam, the girl agrees to marry the perfect gentleman. However, Dharam starts feeling bad when Shyra's attention and time shifts to her would-be-husband. Things eventually start getting awkward between the two lead characters as their lust for each other turns into love.

POSITIVES

Like in his debut Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer plays the quintessential Delhi-boy to perfection. The actor is capable of making the audience laugh with his cheesy expressions and dialogues. You will be left in splits when he says "Tum kya abhi bhi Dharam ke yaadon mein garam hojati ho" imitating veteran actor Dharmendra.

The multiple lip-locks are the USP of the film Befikre. Apart from some entertaining moments in the movie, songs are pleasant and refreshing.

NEGATIVES

Befikre has a long list of nonsensical moments and sequences. Dharam tells Shyra's parents that his late father was an army man and now he has just his mother. Strangely, he never visits his mother in India and does not inform her when he once decided to marry a French girl. Ranveer's kind character somehow doesn't justify that bit.

Ranveer and Vaani's characters throw a number of dares at each other, performing which would definitely put them behind bars. However, laws in France appear non-existent as they do not get in trouble for all the things they pull off.

The climax of the movie is the most disappointing part of the film and reminds you of a chaotic ending that Sajid Khan is mostly known for. The movie lacks a strong storyline and gets very predictable.

PERFORMANCE

Ranveer brings some light in the film with his performance. He portrays the role of a charming playboy with elan, but this is something that he has done previously as well in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl and partly even in Band Baaja Baaraat. Vaani is good as far as acting is concerned, but she has mostly shown her kissing skills in the movie. Ranveer now has little to prove in that field.

VERDICT

Aditya Chopra wore the director's hat after many years for Befikre. But his latest directorial venture will make you wonder how a film-maker, who directed blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995, can make a film like Befikre in 2016. With a couple of entertaining moments and loads of kisses in the film, Befikre is definitely not what is expected of Aditya or Ranveer.
