The Bangladesh Premier League is moving into the business end of the competition and teams are looking for ways to improve upon their performance, emerge victorious to climb up the table. Two matches are set to be played on Sunday, which is expected to be an entertaining contest. Here is a look at both the matches.
Barisal Bulls vs Dhaka Dynamites
Dhaka Dynamites have always been a solid BPL team, and their performance in this edition has been no different. They lie on second place with 10 points. The Dynamites will be keen to register an impressive victory against the Bulls and further strengthen their position.
Though they might have won five matches so far, Dynamites have lost two of their last three matches in the competition. However, they will hope to use their last win over Comilla Victorians as confidence booster ahead of the Bulls clash. With players like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Shakib Al Hasan, their batting looks good, but it is their bowlers, who have to deliver.
For the Bulls, this game is also about the revenge as they lost to Dynamites in their last head-to-head encounter. A solid performance from stars like Jeevan Mendis, Mushfiqur Rahman and Thisara Perera can help the Bulls pick up the much needed points. The Bulls lie on second last position of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Rangpur Riders vs Chittagong Vikings
The Riders are aware that a victory will help them move up the table, but Vikings stand on their way. The Vikings are also desperate to win this match and be level on points with the Riders, which will make matters interesting. There is lot to be played for both teams on Sunday.
The Riders lost their last match to Rajshahi Kings, which they cannot afford against Vikings if they are to strengthen their position in the points table. Only four teams qualify for knockouts tages. The Riders middle order need to contribute more, and not depend on the top order, and bowlers like Anwar Ali and Rubel Hossain should take major responsibility.
The Vikings, after a poor start, have got into their groove, winning their last three matches on a trot. Now, they are one of the in-form teams of BPL 2016, and will hope to carry that momentum forward against Riders. The Vikings's batsmen have shone brightly of late, helping them score 190, 186 and 185 runs in their last three matches, with players like Shoaib Malik and Dwayne Smith scoring for the team. If their bowlers also gets their game right, they might well be on course for their fourth straight victory.
