After shattering the records of Aamir Khan's "PK", "Baahubali-the Beginning" directed by SS Rajamouli broke the opening weekend box office collection record of Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express".

"Baahubali" is on a record breaking spree in India and overseas box office. After breaking the opening day box office collection record of Aamir Khan's "PK", the film has shattered the debut weekend business record of "Chennai Express".

"Chennai Express" starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh earned ₹15.15 crore ($ 24, 75,000) from the US-Canada box office in its opening weekend. However, in just two days the Telugu version of "Baahubali" earned approximately ₹15.2 crore.

After adding the Tamil version US box office collection, "Baahubali" takes it to more than ₹15.6 crore.

"Baahubali" opened to a phenomenal response at the worldwide box office, and it is expected to break several records in the coming days.

With its opening day India total, the film shattered the records of Shah Rukh's "Happy New Year" to become the highest opening day grosser of all time. [Read the story here]

Directed by Rajamouli, the first part of "Baahubali" features Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Nassar, Adivi Sesh, Tanikella Bharani and Sudeep in pivotal roles.
