SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali - the Beginning" (Bahubali) has done superb business at the overseas box office in its first weekend, but failed to beat the international business record of Aamir Khan's "PK".
"Baahubali - the Beginning" opened to an earth-shattering response at paid premieres in north America. Having collected over $1 million, the movie shattered the record of "PK", which is the biggest opening Indian cinema in the international markets.

After seeing the humongous response, trade experts predict that "Baahubali - the Beginning" will smash all the opening weekend business records of "PK" and other big ticket Indian movies at the key international markets and would set a new benchmark for upcoming Indian movies.
As predicted, "Baahubali - the Beginning" has erased the first weekend record of "PK" at the USA box office with a big margin. While the Aamir Khan starrer raked in $3,088,584 (₹19.53 crores) from 272 screens in three days, the Rajamouli-directed period drama has collected $4,423,339 (₹28.07 crore) from 236 cinema halls at the USA box office in the first weekend.
"Baahubali - the Beginning" has also shattered the opening weekend record of "PK" in Malaysia, but failed to beat the business records of the latter in other key international markets such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand. However, its average collection per screen is higher than that of the Rajkumar Hirani directorial.
"PK", which collected $7.68 million (₹47.6 cr) at the overseas box office in three days, has been the highest grossing Indian film in the opening weekend at the international markets. "Baahubali - the Beginning" collected $4.65 million (₹29.07 crore) at the international box office in the first weekend and has landed in the second place after "PK".
