NEW DELHI -- Yamaha India pulled the cover off its performance streetbike MT-09 in India on Thursday, 4 February, at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi.

Priced at Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-Delhi), Yamaha MT-09 was launched by the company's brand ambassador, John Abraham. The motorcycle will hit the showrooms by the end of February and will be sold through selected dealers of Yamaha across the country.

The MT-09 is powered by 847cc three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 113bhp at 10,000rpm and 87.5Nm of torque at 8,500rpm mated to six-speed transmission. The motorcycle sports traction control system with two different riding modes.

Built on diamond type frame, the MT-09 is employed with telescopic front forks with 137mm travel, while rear features swingarm (Link type) suspension. The braking is taken care of by 298mm dual disc at front brakes, while the rear gets 245mm single disc brakes. The motorcycle also comes with optional ABS.

To be pitted against Triumph Street Triple and the Kawasaki Z800 in India, the MT-09 will be brought to India as Completely Built Up (CBU) units.
