The first look teaser of the Tamil film "Meagamann – Captain of the Ship" starring Arya and Hansika Motwani in the lead was released on Thursday, 3 July. This upcoming action thriller film is directed by Magizh Thirumeni.
Not much of the film is reveled, but the reports suggest that it will see seven actors in villainous roles. The story is set in Goa and the shooting is done in parts of Gujarat and Chennai.
There were many rumours going the rounds regarding the casting of the film. Earlier reports suggested that Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be the lead along with Arya. Later, there were reports of Shruthi Hassan being part of the film. Taapsee Pannu, who was Arya's co-star in the film "Arrambam," was also linked with the project. At last, Motwani's name was confirmed by the "Meagamman" team.
Arya who began his acting career with the film "Arinthum Ariyamalum" in 2005 later went to do many hit films like "Pattiyal", "Madrasapattinam", "Boss Engira Bhaskaran", "Vettai", "Raja Rani", "Arrambam" and "Irandam Ulagam".
"Meagamann" is expected to be a huge hit and a milestone in Arya's career. The film's insiders say that the audience will see Arya in a new phase in terms of his body language. The film is said to give a new dimension to his acting style.
Meanwhile, Magizh Thirumeni made his debut as a director with the romantic comedy film "Mundhinam Paartheney" in 2010. However, the film starring Sanjay, Ekta Ghosla, Lizna, Pooja and Sai Prashanth failed to make a note in the box office.
Thirumeni's second film "Thadaiyara Thaakka" was released in 2012, and with this film he shifted his attention to the genre of action thrillers. The film was not much recognized at the box office and just received average critical appreciation. It had Arun Vijay, Mamta Mohandas, Rakul Preet Singh, Maha Gandhi, Vamsi Krishna, Aruldas, Aadukalam Murugadoss, Kali Venkat, M.G.Lohanthan, Aarthi Ramya and Debi Dutta in the lead roles.
"Meagamann – Captain of the Ship" is Thirumeni's third film and his biggest budget film till date. The other casts of the film includes Sudhanshu Pandey, Ashuthosh Rana, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Anupama Kumar, Sanjana Singh, Avinash, Mahadevan, Harish Uthaman and Maha Gandhi.
"Meagamann" is produced by Nemichand Jhabak and V. Hitesh Jhabak. The music of the film is composed by S Thaman and cinematography is handled by S.R. Sathish Kumar.
