Shobha Nagireddy, YSR Congress Party leader and Allagadda candidate,succumbed to serious injuries she sustained in a road mishap late on Wednesday night.

Shobha was returning to her native Allagadda from Nandyal in Kurnool district, after wrapping her campaign when the accident took place, reported Sakhshi Post.

According to Gulte, the car in which Shobha was travelling overturned after hitting paddy heaps dumped on the road. She was reportedly thrown out of the car and sustained grave injuries on her head and neck. The accident reportedly took place in Doobaguntamitta near Allagadda.

Shobha was shifted to Suraksha hospital in Nandyal and after getting preliminary treatment she was moved to Care Hospital in Hyderabad, according to Sakshi Post. She was in critical condition and went into a coma. Doctors at the hospital put her on ventilator and tried to revive her.

Despite doctors' efforts, Shobha passed away on Thursday morning. She is survived by her husband Bhuma Nagireddy and three children. 

Shobha and her husband  were once top leaders in the Telugu Desam Party. But after actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi floated his Praja Rajam Party, Shobha quit TDP and joined PRP. She contested in the elections and won as an MLA.

However, she later joined the YSR Congress and was active in the party. She was reportedly amongst the top leaders of the party.
