One of the favourites for the 2014 World Cup - Germany -- will pit their skills with South American opposition when they face off in an international friendly against Chile in Stuttgart.

Joachim Low's men are expected to contend for the title in Brazil come June, owing to the array of stars in their lineup including Mesut Ozil, Mario Gotze, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller, who misses out for the Chile friendly due to injury along with Julian Draxler and Marco Reus.

Germany have been drawn in a tough group with the United States, Portugal and Ghana, and Low will look to make use of every opportunity via the friendlies before the real action begins.

"We are ready for the World Cup," Low said. "Since the draw we are constantly thinking about the World Cup in Brazil, our entire focus lies on the players and on our team and on the process and the organisation.

"I think you have to differentiate a little. Of course it applies to the situation overall, but also the expectation of the fans, everybody's ready to fight for the title we feel a great support in the country and an incredibly huge interest.

"We the managers have always been ready; we're under tension ahead of every tournament and always go into each with full concentration. But it applies more because Germany hasn't won the title in a long time and of course we will try everything to reach that title."

It has been 24 years since Germany were last crowned world champions, but with the crop of players at Low's disposal this is as good a time as any to end the long wait.

However, with a few injuries hampering Germany's progress, Low has given youth a chance in the friendly against Chile, with the manager calling up four uncapped players - Shkodran Mustafi, Andre Hahn, Matthias Ginter and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

"On paper, we have a top team, but the reality is a bit different at the moment," Low said. "Several players have been injured for months, while others have struggled with a lack of rhythm or form.

"With a view to the World Cup, we won't make any compromises. We have to get everything in line to be successful. We have the chance to work on solutions and alternatives to various problems. So we have decided to look at a few new faces who have been consistently good for their clubs

Chile were outstanding in their recent friendly at England, with Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez expectedly their danger man.

With the match being in Germany, though, the home will start favourites, even if Chile will look to pull off an impressive win like they did at Wembley in November last year.
