Check out the Chennai box office collection report of "Arrambam", "Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham", "Kalyana Samyal Saadham" and "Thagaruru."

Arrambam

The Ajith starrer is still getting screened in theatres even after completing 40 days at the box office.

"Arrambam" is estimated to have grossed ₹12 crore at the Chennai box office. The action entertainer, which released on 31 October, is still managing to get decent theatre occupancy, thanks to no big releases.

Although several films released in the last month, they were not able to score big at the box office and it appears that the audience still prefers to watch "Arrambam" over other films.

The film has already been declared a super hit. According to reports, the Ajith starrer reportedly grossed over ₹100 crore at the worldwide box office, with Tamil Nadu contributing a major chunk of it.

"Arrambam" has performed well in key overseas markets including US, UK, Singapore and Malaysia.

The Telugu dubbed version of "Arrambam", which released on 6 December, is also doing well at the Andhra Pradesh box office. The film took an average opening on the first day of its release, despite other Telugu releases.

Thagararu

Arulnithi's "Thagararu" got off to an average start in Chennai. The film earned over ₹95 lakh in its first weekend, according to Behindwoods

However, the action entertainer managed to perform better than the other new release "Kalyana Samayal Saadham."

It remains to be seen as to how the film fares during weekdays.

Kalyana Samal Saadham

Prasanna-Lekha Washington's "Kalyana Samal Saadham" has taken an average opening at the Chennai box office.

The film received average theatre occupancy of 50 percent in its first weekend and earned over ₹29 lakh in Chennai.

The light-hearted comedy entertainer did well in multiplexes during the first weekend, but the film underperformed in small centres, which resulted in its average opening.

Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham

Jai starrer "Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham" has earned over ₹2 crore in 10 days in Chennai.

The film, which released on 29 November, received mixed reviews from critics. However, the comedy entertainer performed better than other new releases and took a good opening on the first day.

It has continued to have a good run even after 10 days, despite the release of "Kalyana Samayal Saadham" and "Thagararu" last weekend.

According to entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai, the Chennai box office has witnessed an all time low last weekend with new releases failing to set the cash registers ringing.

It remains to be seen how Vikram Prabhu's "Ivan Vera Mathiri" performs when it hits the screens on 13 December. The film, produced by UTV Motion Pictures, will be having a solo big release on Friday.
