Diwali releases "All in All Azhaguraja" and "Pandiya Nadu" have taken a good opening at the Chennai box office.
"All in All Azhaguraja" (AAA)
The Karthi starrer was released in more than 500 screens worldwide on 2 November. "AAA" took a good opening on the first day of its release, thanks to the positive pre-release buzz that the film had received.
Expectations were high as the film is directed by Rajesh, whose last three films were big hits. However, "AAA" has failed to live up to the hype generated by the film's trailer and the promotional activities involving its cast and crew.
The film kicked-off to a good start in the first two days of its release. Particularly in Chennai, "AAA" minted ₹1.11 crore from 354 shows. The comedy caper registered theatre occupancy of 80 percent upon release, reported Behindwoods.
Details about the film's first weekend collections are still awaited. Apparently, "AAA" collections might drop significantly in the coming days as the reviews for the film haven't been positive.
The Rajesh directorial has Karthi and Kajal Aggarwal playing the leads. The other members of the cast include Prabhu, Saranya Ponvannan, Santhanam and MS Bhaskar.
"Pandiya Nadu"
Vishal's "Pandiya Nadu" has taken a decent opening upon film's release on 2 November. In Chennai, the action entertainer has earned ₹38.12 lakh from 156 shows. However, details regarding the film's collections from other areas are yet to be announced.
Directed by Suseenthiran, "Pandiya Nadu" has won rave reviews from critics as well as the audiences. Positive word of mouth is likely to help the film get more revenues. According to senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai, "Pandiya Nadu" collections will improve once it is shown in more number of screens.
Of the three Tamil releases, "Pandiya Nadu" has got the least number of screens. But, its screen count is likely to increase after the first week. "#PandiyaNadu - Good WOM, collections decent, will improve as more screens will b added from 2nd week," senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.
The positive feedback showered on the film should bring a sense of relief for Vishal, whose last few films have failed to set the cash registers ringing.
The actor will be next seen in "Naan Sigappu Manithan", directed by Thiru of "Samar" fame. Lakshmi Menon, the lead heroine in "Pandiya Nadu", will once again team up with Vishal for this new project.
